While The Car Is Off I Can Hear Distortion Sounds From The Radio And Then, When I Crank Up The Car The Distortion Is Real Loud For About 5-8 Secs Then Goes Back Down And Continues To Distort At About The Same Level But Just A Little Higher. The Distortion Sounds Like Static. I Have The Speakers Runing Out Of The Back Of The Radio And Have Attempted To Run A Separate Ground Thinking That Was The Problem But Not Luck. Suggestions Are Welcomed And Requested.

is it aftermarket head unit? do you have an amp and subs?

I do have an aftermarket head unit (Lanzar SVTV7) and amplifiers, but, no factory amplifiers that I could find unless their under the hood. Anyway, the speakers suffered the same results connected to the amplifer and connected directly to the radio bypassing the amplifier, so, the aftermarket amp seems not to be the culprit. I do have a blk/wht wire coming out of the harness that clips to the factory harness and reads "amplifier ground" on it. could the factory radio have an internal amp in it itself and the amplifier ground wire should be connected to something that may solve this problem?

the aftermarket head unit should be hooked up to a ground, it wouldnt work with out it.
the aftermarket amplifier also has to be grounded or it will not operate. find a metal spot on the body of the truck, theres a thread on here of where people put their ground wire.
the factory radio has internal amps (if you dont have the amp'd factory radio)

at the top of the page youll see Quick Reference for Audio Forum. it will tell you all you need to know to find out which radio system you had in your truck. hope this helps.

i am in the process of connecting a speaker directly to the radio without going through the factory wires and see if this cures the problem. will let you know later. also, should i increase the wire size going to the chassis from the battery and could this also be the problem?

also, there were 2 plugs in back of the factory radio after i just reviewed it. one plug is in the harness for use to hook up aftermarket radio and the other one has only 2 wires, one is gray w/black strip and the other is orange. does anyone know what these may have been connected to or used for?
