I've got a '92 Explorer with manual locking hubs. I heard noises coming out of the left front, sounded like bad bearings. I needed to do the brakes anyway, so I replaced the rotors, brake pads, bearings and races, everything is installed and torqued to specs. Everything was fine till yesterday. Now when I go down the road I hear what sounds like bad bearings and a kind of rattle like the hub is loose. Came home, pulled it apart, everything appeared to be fine. I installed new bearigs and races just to be sure. I checked the fluid levels in trans., transfer case, and front diff., I also checked the u-joints. all seem to be in good shape. This morning I locked the hubs and put it in 4H. It seemed to want to bind up after a few feet, although it will still pull. I put it back in 2 wheel and set the hubs to free wheel and it moves fine, just makes that God awful noise. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
