I have 4x4 high but no 4x4 low

I just bought a 91 explorer 4x4. The 4x4 high works fine but when I go to put it into 4x4 low it dis engages the 4wd. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you STOPPED, in NEUTRAL, and in 4WD Hi before you press the 4WD Lo button?

Yes...i know i have to be stopped and in 4wd with the trans in neutral and my foot on the brake, but when i go to push the 4low button it turns off my 4wd

Then your shift motor needs the bump stop fix. Search it.
