Well, I think I found the source of my rough initial startup idle, burning antifreeze and milky oil. I have a bad intake gasket AND each head has a crack between the valves, the left head between the rear cylinders valves and the right head between the front cylinders valves. I think its crazy the truck was never over heated. Has anybody else had their heads do this. It's a 1997 4.0l ohv engine. Also, does anybody know a good reliable source for some rebuilt heads? Thanks.

You might want to look for new heads? Seems like they don't cost much more?

I would recommend new heads as well...

I bought a set of new heads earlier this year for about $400 shipped...I ended up not needing to replace the original heads but they are thicker in most areas and the rebuilds I looked at I really didn't like the look of the rewelding on them...

Whichever way you go don't forget that you need to replace the head bolts as well... They can look great but they are torque to yield...
