I have this terrible shaking in the front end when I hit the gas but when im cruising its fine. Also when I hit the gas the check engine light comes on. Something on the right side of the throttle body is not spinning, I think it might be the powersteering pump or pully because before i had this problem but it was in the steering when ever I turned the wheel. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS PLEASE I HAVE TO MAKE IT TO A FRIANDS WEDDING AND THIS IS THE ONLY CAR I HAVE PLEASE!

Its a 1999 XLT V6 sohc

First thing to check is to make sure there's power steering fluid in the reservoir. The reservoir is a white plastic canister directly above the power steering pump.

If the reservoir is full and the power steering pulley isnt turning, then the power steering pump is seized and will have to be replaced.

I dunno how mechanically inclined you are but you can replace the power steering pump in less than a day -- it doesnt require any specialized tools (you just need the average 3/8" drive socket set).

EDIT -- and BTW, the power steering pump's pulley is best identified by its three 3 bolts, looks like this:

Idler pulleys have a bad habit of going bad on these trucks. Check if all your pulleys are tight. The check engine light needs an OBD-2 scanner to read the code.

Oh ..and to check pulleys you need to unload the belt tensioner with a square 3/8" socket in the belt tensioner. You tilt the tensioner to examine pulley movement.

Thanks Guys your Lots of help! I took it to a shop and they said that I had a block in my exhaust and the spark plug wire was burned through causing the 5th cylinder to miss and then causing the bad shaking when I accelerated. so hopefully its just a block in the exhaust.

oh yeah how do I get the clog out of my exhaust so I can get to the wedding? PLEASE... or do I just have to get a whole new performance system? haha

if there is a clog in your exhaust it might be creating more backpressure than needed.do they know for sure its a clog and not a stuck valve?

I'm not so sure but today (the wedding was yesterday) I'll have some more time to look at it myself. soo I'll get back to you guys probably tomorrow.

harmonic balancer if it has one...

Well everything looks fine... I hope, I think it was just a strange occurence.
