I tried to put in my new Indiglo gauges today. They look great on my bench glowing blue...but I cannot get the cluster out. The cover over the face was simple two screws on the ash tray and some careful pressure and the cover was off in nothing flat. I removed the torx screws and the instrument cluster would move a little but not foreword enough to remove the speedometer cable or the electrical plugs.....in fact only about 1/2 inch foreword. Another thing was the little adjuster for the PRNDL needle adjustment was hitting the steering column as well and it looked like it would break very easily. Can anyone help me as to what I am doing wrong ??? I am going to gather more information and advice and attempt this again on a warmer day.....but I really need some help from some of you who have done this. I had the steering wheel tilted down as far as it would go and the radio out as well of course.

Thanks in advance

your gear solector unbolts from the insterment cluster it should be two black screws on eather side of it at the bottom of the gear solector. than the gear solecter can be pulled slid down and pulled out that will get that pice out of the way. and enless im missing m any thing it should slid out a little more but it sill is going to be very hard to fit your hand behind there. i always sut up my hand doing mine.

You get the speedo cable from under the dash, gotta reach your hand up there, push the clip down and pull the cable out.
Takes some practice but once you do it a few times it takes like 10 seconds.

I just pulled mine out again this weekend (tracking down where the smoke came from). The first few times I pulled it was hard. Now I can pull it in < 5 minutes.

Once I have the screw out from around it I pull the gauges themselves (e.g. pull the water/volt and oil/fuel gauges and the tach out. Once out I can push the electrical connectors out (squeese/push the connectors tabs). Once those are out I can manuever the rest of the cluster so I can get my hand behind it and disconnect the speedo cable. It is much easier to remove now than it was the first time I pulled it.

removal

you have too drop the steering colum down. but first remove the plastic cover around the ignition switch there are two screws on the bottom side of the cover after removing them pry the cover off it will give you access to the prndl cable remove that screw. then remove the plastic and metal cover on the colum and the two large bolts holding the colum this will give you room to work. You still have to reach in and remove the speedometer cable and the two wire harness plugs. Not as bad as it sounds should take about half hour

cluster removel

I just put in my reverse glow gauges and i did not even have to remove my cluster all i did was take off the dash trim and the plastic cover and did everything right from there

I need help pulling the gauge cluster out the wire is holding it

How far did you get? I found it easier to remove the 2 electrical connectors from the back by pulling the gauges out of the cluster first and squeezing the releases from the front.

Now the entire cluster moves around enough for me to get my hand behind it to release the speedo cable.
