I recently picked up a 93 EB explorer. I would like to add a 2" lift so I can fit some 31's under it. I really don't want to change my gearing though. I currently have 3:27's with my 4.0. Will I lose a lot of driveability with this? This truck will be a daily driver with occasional off road use. I am new and would appreciate any suggestions. By the way, I am wanting a 2" suspension lift. Will the 31-10.5's fit with that? Thanks for any help. I appreciate suggestions!

You will be fine..SkyJacker makes a 2", easy install

I ran the 31x10.5 BFG AT for awhile, the only rub I had was on the swaybar..Minor at full turn.

I am running 31's on my '92 with only shackles and coil spacers (1 3/4") lift. Like mdrut said the only rubbing is on the sway bar, and that is only at full lock (this is with stock offset rims, a rim with a shallower offset shouldn't have a problem).
As far as performance loss it will be significant. I had 3.27's in my X and considering the power it had with the 235's I knew the 31's would kill it. I swapped the 3.27's for 3.73's before I put the 31's on and my X actually drives (pulls) better than it did with the 3.27's and 235's.
The main reason I wouldn't recomend running the high gears and tall tires is the tranny. Providing you have an automatic, they are not known for their strength or lifespan and anything you do to make it work harder (tall tires, high gears) will dramatically reduce the life of the tranny.

What all is involved in changing to 3:73's? I had 3:73's put in my Mustang Cobra, and it made a huge difference. Do I have to change the front axle gearing as well, or does it stay the same. I am new to 4 wheeling. I have been modifying the mustang for years, and decided it was time to buy a winter vehicle. By the way, I do have the automatic tranny and 135,000 miles. I am not sure if it has ever been rebuilt. It shifts fine. (so far)

You do need to regear both diffs if you choose to change ratios. As far as what's involved, all I know about gears is to take it to someone who can do 'em. lol

mrboyle,
how did the shackles and those coil spacers work out for you... i have a 93 and i was looking into doing that... someone told me if i do that i will have a positive camber problem.. do you have that? if you did how did you correct it and if you have the place and prices of the stuff need it would be great... thanks
