These happened a little while ago so i figured I'd throw them all in one post....

tightened rear windsheild too much and 20 mins later BOOM! Glass everywhere!


this was not fun to clean up, its still all in my driveway no matter how many times i sweep it...


Over tightened a lug and rip the stud in half...


Broke the head off one of the bolts holding the rear cover on when changin the gear oil, since been drilled, threaded and replaced...


Oh well I guess thats what i get for insisting on learnin everything the hard way, you live and learn!(the thumbnails will take you to larger images)

I sheared that exact same diff cover bolt. It's the one with the id tag, huh? And it broke going in rather than coming out. Same here. I figure the tag let's the bolt rust right up by the bolt head. But still, it's just nonsence that it hangs on coming out and then breaks going in.

I too learned the hard way. I used to tighten everything as tight as possible, I figured its not gonna come loose that way.......
This is not a good idea, as you are finding out.
Over tightened lug nuts are the #1 cause of warped rotors.

On our Ford trucks there are many places where a steel bolt is going into aluminum, such as the thermostat housing, tranny mount, waterpump, etc....you can strip out the aluminum with barely any effort and just cause headache after headache.

I have learned over the years, it doesnt need to be put on with a 4' breaker bar for it to hold.
Then again I am not getting rid of my 4' breaker bar anytime soon those damn spindle nuts get at least 200 ft lbs by the time I am done.....
