Every once in awhile, I drive a few miles, shut the engine off, 10 mins. later, I start it up and have a very rough idle for a few mins. then everything is ok.
I disconnected my iac and the idle went from a semi rough 800 to 600, what would happen if I left it disconnected? Thanks, Gary

Have you tried cleaning it?

I was looking at it to see the black cap that is supposed to pull off, but I don't see anything that is removeable except the two 10mm bolts and the wire connection. Would a dirty iac cause mpg to drop?

It can along with a dirty MAF sensor. Take the IAC off and spray it down with carb cleaner and let it dry. The MAF sensor can be cleaned the same way except you might want to use electric contact cleaner.

just replaced mine today with a part from napa.

new IAC valve: $45

Labor: 3 minutes

I cleanned it yesterday, but it wasn't very dirty, blew it out with the air hose after. I didn't notice any change. I still would like to know what would happen if I disconnected the iac? Would it give me a cel? stall, or what? Thanks Gary

is there any problem spraying carb cleaner on the MAF ?

I sprayed the MAF with carb cleaner about 25k ago, it was clean. I smell fuel, so I might replace my fuel pressure reg, I don't know if that would make any diff as far as mpg, although it might cause my idle problem. Gary
