Ok my ebrake cable isn't tight enough and nobody has been able to figure out how to adust so it actually works.

My theory is to use a one of those do-hickys that are on the back of a wooden gate to keep it square. It can easily be tightened and loosened when needed. What do you guys think? Pros? Cons? I can take it so lets here your thoughts.

Yr cable is probably has stretched beyond its usable length

i say just go get an adjustable cable off a 91-92 and be done with it.

Im not sure what this gate thing you are talking about is, but it sure doesnt sound like its gonna hold your truck on a steep hill. I'd stay away anything designed for a wooden gate. Unless its something im not familiar with, please elaborate (pics maybe?) of this gate hting you are talking about.

back of which gate? I dont follow you.

Again I say cut your intermediate cable , take up the slack, and cable tie the two halves back together with simple $2 cable ties.

^^^ probably the best idea

^^ i agree

Have your rear breaks checked. If the pads get worn enough your ebrake will seem loose like that.

Ok I forgot to mention one thing I have converted the rear brakes to disc from a '95. I got a '95 cable but its just a tad to long.

I agree the fence thing may not be the best idea but it does use a metal braided cable.

410 its on the back of most wood gates. It goes from top left corner to bottom right. There is a metal piece that you twist which tightens up the cable which lifts/squares the gate so it doesn't sag. What type of cable ties you refering to?

Spindle, what is a turnbuckle??? Oh, is that what the thing on the back of the gate is???

Ace hardware - $0.99
or something. Mine have held my disc brake intermediate cable to my BII foot pedal cable for years now.
I have two of them and about 12" of overlapping cable.

Those work, they also make alum cable crimps, you pass the cable thru one side than back thru the other, than smash it with a BFH

410, so how many beers do I owe you now???

I will check that out seems simple enough. Thanks!

good info Spindle! I might use some of those suckers next time for a cleaner install. I originally used these because I figured I could make adjustments as the cable stretched or clamps slid, but its been years and I have not had to touch them. Sounds like what is used to dead end hitch elevator cables

actually it was my buddy Brett who showed me to do this on my BII, he did the same method on his BII when he went 8.8 discs

He doesnt drink though so I will gladly accept beer for him :)

Did you try adjusting the parking brakes? They work the same a s the drums for adjustment

I used these while making my hand throttle. Worked like a charm and hold the cable TIGHT! They can be a pain in the ass to take off if needed though haha
