Almost 4 years without and Ex and I get a call from an old family friend saying they're going to scrap their Ex because it has a "bad transmission".

So I've got myself a new project. When I get it home ill take some pictures and post um up!!

I know its a 95 OHV 4R55E...

Jon, How are you doing?

Been a while, hasn't it?

Anyone have any idea of the common failure parts??

Owners say it wont go forwaard or backward...

Pump? Valve body? Fluid level?

I have been doing some research on the 4R55E but, I'm no expert with these anymore. I've eaten, slept and breathed SHO's for the past 4 years.

Good deal! Welcome back!!:chug:

Thanks Rick.. I don't plan on letting my mother roll this one.

Heres to getting it fixed up right.

It is a possibility, I haven't gotten the truck to my house yet so im trying to bounce ideas to get a list of things to check when she does get here.

Jon, how could I go about checking the transfercase for an issue?

I don't, really. Guess I need a night at the Holiday Inn

I was just throwing it out as a suggestion. Maybe someone else has an idea.

You might look through the transmission--transfer case sub forum.

Alright, ill start doing some more reading.

Automatic transmissions are a new territory to me.

With the SHO, I've owned 4 or 5 and all have been 5 speeds. ha I can do a clutch replacement in less than 9 hours, swap a motor in a day and a half and fix almost any issue with the car... Yet auto trannys make me curl into a ball and cry like a little school girl.
