Well I decided today I want to shorten the X instead of finishing it the way I started it. So here are some pics to help you understand what I am going to do and how it would look compared from old look to new look. Let me know what you think in case I am just insane.

After (if I do it)

There is the shortning of the rear, Small change to the rear cage and I will be doing a coil over on the rear axle so that I can remove the leafs. Tell me what you think.

there is the pic, but it is just a bobbing of the rear, no change in wheel base.

That pick looks cool, I say do it. Kinda reminds me of a four door wrangler, only better.

Thnx that's what I was hopping to hear.

Dman, I am thinking of using a fuel cell but I am not definite at this point.
The fuel tank does not go past the rear differential, but I may use the fuel cell due to running coils on the rear (I think the control arms be require me to remove the tank).

Thnx for the input so far... :D

I voted Great Idea, Get Started! :D

BII tank might work. I think they're smaller and more square shaped, not long and narrower like an explorer style. Maybe someone else can jump in on this, but I heard that awhile back.

Do it!

I like the poll choices :D

I say go for it, and you will need a fuel cell if you go coils in the rear.

i say hack it up.. its already way FUBAR to ever go back to its original state

why not buy a door... that will give you 11 inches right there

Huh? A door?

Probably meant a "2" door - I was thinking the same thing

hahahah your X rocks, cut it, cut it.

hah you redneck (kidding)

Hurry up and git 'er done :D

Hey being a redneck here in TEXAS is a good thing  ;)

I suppose i'll play devil's adovcate, why do you want to shorten it? you'll loose cargo area, you'll have to move around a whole bunch of isht most likely. If it's just to look cool i wouldn't do it, if you're looking for a better departure angle because you're hanging up on isht then go for it, otherwise you're just a posuer. :D

And if you're going to run a triangulated 4 link in the rear you're most definantly going to have to relocate the gas tank.

Hard to say without a real picture to look at but, damn it, it'll be kick ass if you pull it off right.

Poser, na not me I got more dents in my one quarter panel than everyone combined who posted. Me deal is the parks I run here I practically get over every thing, however that big bang when my rear bumper hangs up sucks and I'm tired of ripping off my high lift (which is mounted on the bumper). I am not willing to go any higher in lift. I am actually going to do a one link and panhard bar, after listening to a lot of people talk on here and other boards it seems the cheapest and most sinceable way to go at this point. I'll be using XJ springs and I'll make my spring buckets just like I did for the front. I'm also going to replace my current front radius arms with a different style which will mount to the frame giving me more ground clearence. I just figured while my rig is down I might as well do everything at once. Thanks for the input everybody.

As far as cargo, its a trailer queen there is none other than a Ice chest and one toolbox. Everything else stays in the Trailer Tool box or back of my tow rig. Now my stuff won't have as much room to slided around :D

Hopefully this helps me as much as moving the front axle up 3 inches
