OK, I have had my explorer for over 2 years now and I am ready to spice things up a little bit. I finally got my wife a minivan so my explorer is no longer the familiy every day driver so I can start making some modifications I can enjoy.

I am thinking about the 4" suspension lift from suspensionconnection.com and then some 32x11.50's or 33x12.50's. I also plan on some new spark plugs and a K&N air filter with a computer chip from Apten soon to follow. I also need to do something with the exhaust if there are any suggestions.

I was just wondering if I am on the right track. I want my explorer to look bad ass and sound good, I will use it somewhat for 4x4ing when I get the time or chance but mainly it will be an everyday driver (not too far - work is only about 1 mile away) but I do have to use my vehicle once or twice a week to drive to locations for work. Usually not more than 150 miles a week. So I want to keep it somewhat comfortable for driving.

Any feed back I can get from you guys or gals, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

4" suspension lift suggestions:

James Duff new system with the heim ended extended radius arms
Maybe a little much for your needs

Skyjacker or Superlift (I prefer Skyjacker)

If you are just going for looks and a little off road you should consider a body lidt to fit the bigger tires and just fine tune your stock suspension.

It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want to use the truck for. TZhe sky is the limit!

I thought about just doing the body lift but I would like some more clearance on my explorer. My explorer seems to look like it sits alittle lower than most others I have seen. If I was to go with a body lift you said to do some modification to my suspension, what modifications are you suggesting.

F-150 spring seats will get you 1-5/8" lift up front
Shackles in the back to match the new lift up front.

New bushings for the radius arms and sway bars
Also new shocks and sway bar disconnects.

That right there is a GREAT setup for a sometimes off road and good looking Gen I Explorer for CHEAP!!

Welcome to the site..
