Hello
Does anyone have the part number for the yellow seal on the input shaft? the shaft that the torque converter goes on, mine has broken after I put the torque converter on wrong and now its leaking fluid at the bottom of the bellhousing. I took the transmission back off and that yellow plastic? seal was broken underneath the torque converter.

Also need a part number for the reverse band and any other seals, gaskets I will have to replace as I tear the transmission apart to get to the reverse band as the tab has broken off on the band and I got no reverse, luckily found the broken tab in the oil pan.

As exploler parts are thin on the ground in europe I was wondering if this transmission is in any european fords? I think the predecessor was in a ford mondeo if anyone has any details, is the input shaft seal the same on the 4r transmission?

Many thanks! Great forum!

That seal will not cause an external leak. Possible it is your front seal. If you plan on opening it up I would just get an overhaul kit as it has all seal, gaskets and sealing rings. Yes the seals are the same on the 4R44E. The rev band is also the same.
Some suppliers I use are Transtar-Precision -WIT transmission parts. You can always use EBay just look at their ratings and feedback. If you have any questions just ask. Good luck!

thanks for your reply. the leak from the front of the bellhousing was a small leak and that yellow plastic seal on the end of the shaft was snapped in half. Where is the front seal? Is it that plastic thing on the pump that comes in different thicknesses or is it the black rubber seal around the bellhousing where it meets the tranny?

also the problem with ordering one of those kits off ebay is they take 2 to 3 weeks to get to me here in eastern Europe. I am looking for the part number so I can get it from ford dealer in 2 to 4 days even though it will cost more

Yes it is the rubber part you have in the picture. Also there are small o rings on each of the pump bolts that need replaced. I also add a small amount of sealer with the o ring. The yellow sealing ring is part of the lock up system you have to have that. I will see if I can come up with some Ford part numbers for you.

Thank you Brad. Could that yellow sealing ring be called Ring, A4LD/4R44E/4R55E Stator Front (Teflon) 1 3L2Z-7L323-AA by any chance?

trying to work out whats the minimum parts I should change, I just want to change the reverse band, all other gears work fine, ive never opened a tranny before so don't really know what I'm doing haha, looking at the first band I don't even know if its worth replacing or not as I don't know what a worn band looks like. all the parts here are really expensive. reverse band is 110 dollars
