I am trying to install my new sony indash 7" screen. I'm having a pretty severe problem. I'm trying to hook everything up and make sure that it works before I make the final touches and hook it into the dash. So I have all the wires laid out right now and most of the wires are hooked up. On the sony headunit, the only wires not being used is the Blue wire that is used for aftermarket amp and says no more than .3A. Also, the only stock wires not being used is a thin black/green wire used for amp grounding and a black wire which is used for the dimmer ground. Neither of these were included on the sony headunit. Anyways, when I put the keys in and turn the car on, NOT starting the car, a click sound is heard. It almost sounds like the starter is click over and trying to start the car but I had a friend look at it while I had the keys in and he said it sounds like it's coming from the fuse box under the hood. Anyone have ideas as to what the problem is?? I'm not even sure it is coming from the fuse box. Anyone help me?
Thanks,
Matt

Hmmm...help me out a bit here...1: does the vehicle start ok?...2: did you have the doors open (and interior lights on) for a long time while you were doing the install?...how old is the battery?

you will hear relays click when you turn on the key, this is normal...if they are chattering it may be that your battery is very low.

Well we have found that it is indeed the starter that is clicking over. The sound is rather loud and the click happens everyone 1-2 seconds once the open/close button on the unit is pushed. The vehicle starts fine when the unit is not plugged in. When the clicking happens, the lights all dim. I'm not sure what the deal is.
Anyone?

better retrace that wiring...and don't keep turning that new unit on...you are going to cook it...if you have a meter..what is the battery voltage?

Tom

and what is it wired onto as for power? is it possible it is strainning the battery to even start it while operating?
