well we finally got a MAC intake for my dads '97 5.0 X. all i can say is WOW  huge differance in the truck. much more peppy no lag time in throttle responce anymore. its VERY responsve. it also jumps up in the rpms quicker..all in all well well worth the money x10. i did not know somthign this small would make such a huge differance. before it seemed like the truck was gagging for air..now it feels much better.

next my dad wants exhaust..somthing mellow dual in/single out..any ideas? we were thinking flowmaster 50series suv muffler...to get both ends opened up :D

Go Magnaflow. And clean up that engine compartment! The apple fell far from the tree here.

Is that the filter that came with the MAC? Mine was a lot bigger.

I love mine too. I didn't notcie a whole lot in the way of performance, but the sound is awesome! I've been looking at the Flowmaster catback which has the 50series muffler.

My is that a dirty engine bay!

lol last time the motor was cleaned was when we bought the truck in early '02...but i will be doing it here soon.

thats funny todd, this one dident seem any louder..but i felt a big differance.

i'm not sure what made such a big differance(but it really made me say wow outloud)...if it was the horribly dirty fram filster in the stock air box....or the fact it was about 7* when i test drove it..when we got back the intake was so cold it hurt to touch it..so all that cold air might have made a differance + the fact the old filter in the stock air box was so dirty.

your right todd...this is a K&N filter not the stock MAC one.

Mine loves the cold weather. :D

I scored a Flo-Pro for my Eddie. Model FP736 (dual in, single out). Very mellow. Not sure if you can get them in Alaska yet, but I'm told they are available through the US. I've seen it called Canada's answer to Flowmaster. Good stuff and exactly the sound I was looking for.

I have the same setup on my X now and it keeps throwing a CEl light...WTF
