What if you want to mount the switch on the drivers side windshield column?

What if you want to mount the switch on the drivers side windshield column?

It shouldnt be too hard to do your gunna have to account for the extra length of wire of corse and i have never removed the pillars before so im not sure how much clearance there is behind them. Depending on the switch you put in there is gunna be the connectors to the switch where the wires plug into on the back. If you search the forum for someone who installed handles to the pillars he might know more about clearance...or you can take them off and check..as far as running the switch there the process will be the same just finding a good route for the wires to travel..

and as always measure twice drill once ....good luck keep us posted on how it goes...any other questions dont hesitate...

k, Im REALLY new to cars and electrical stuff, so i got tons :D, and I have seen someone put a switch up there, so it is possible, I did a little searching around. I got kinda confused on were to route the wires, both from the bar to the switch and from the switch to the relay, thanks for the help :D

Ok tomorrow im gunna take some pics of where i ran the wires, I ran them through where the drivers door meets the body of the vehicle there is a small space i found where the ran through smoothly, plus the wires are on the side of the battery. if you are gunna do the windshield rails then all you have to do is run the three wires from the switches through the rails its easier than it soundsjust mark out where you want the switch measure the wires out and give yourself some slack in the wire to work...just connect like i did above and you should be good...

If you need diagrams for the relays Tbars actually has a thread that helped me out alot http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=203037

ill keep you posted on the pics of the route tomorrow with this ny heatwave

k, ty very much, and also, what does the relay do exactly?

...Read page 2 of that thread...It explains all about the relay and what would happen if you don't use one...;)

kk, ty :D

Great job with the write up. Between this and MustangAndy's post, I think I'm off to a good start. Personally I like the rectangular lights, maybe because I drive a squarenoser.

thanks and welcome to the forum . yeah this forum is gunna make you spend some money theres alot guys who know the about the ex. if you have any questions dont hesitate i loved the lights and they lasted until i left my car to a parking garage in the city and it came out in a couple of pieces. the bar stayed solid but the lights were f-ed up, im glad i added the quick disconnect wires are still there for the next set of lights, good luck

Can you post a picture of it off during the day a few steps back? I'd like to see how noticeable those lights are. I wasn't planning on doing a light bar until I got around to doing a whole roof basket but if this is low profile enough I may consider doing the same thing.

Yeah illl get a pic of it tomorrow right now i just have two in the middle until i do the same as you and get my safari rack and do them over. when you look at the truck you dont really notice

The spoon sorry it took so long here are a few in the light and diff angles only two until i put the safari rack on
