Hi i'm new here and obviously dont own an Explorer but my friend recently purchased clear corners for his 1991 Explorer, and I was wondering if there was anything online that shows how to do it? Or if anyone can explain it to me so I can help him do it. Because all I have been able to do is remove the two screws on top which hold the left amber reflector in and the chrome housing, now it all looks seperate from the headlight. But something at the bottom is still holding it it, is there something extra I have to do to remove the bolt/clip that is under the lower amber light? Thanks in advance.

What the HE11 is that? Are you Communist?

How could you do that!?!

What you dont like the idea that it is a Yamaha powered Ford sedan?

So is anyone gonna help me with my friends clear corner problems on his '91 Explorer?

First of all you don't have a Yamaha powered Ford.

Second of all Dead Link Removed NO I don't like it.

However, it's not your fiends fault. So if you do a search with the Dead Link Removed and you should find some help there.

Plus I was just Razzin' you to begin with.

Actually... Yamaha did build the engine in the SHOs.

B94Sport your right, but then Ford had to mess it all up by trying to copy Yamaha's design with there Duratech engines. Instead of just coughing up some extra dough and having Yamaha improve on a 13yr old engine thats been out since '89 with just new cars starting to catch up to Yamaha's great build of this engine.

Hey BlackMagic dont get mad at me because Ford had to contract an import company to build them an engine that wouldnt blow head gaskets like the beautiful 3.8L Ford makes.

And I did search but all I can find is how-to's on 95 and up explorers which doesnt help out for a '91, I just need a basic procedure.:p

I had a 91 and put clears on and it is basicly the same. You have to take the entire grill, headlights out and everything between the bumper and hood. It is not too bad but takes a lot of time.

i had everything out, grill, indicators, side reflectors, in less than a half an hour.

its easy. pop the hood.

release all the screws in the black grill guard thats right on top of the grill. remove

unscrew all the screws you see, pop the grill out, watch out for clips on the bottom holding the bottom of the grill in. pop grill out towards you....

its very very easy. i thought for a second i would need instructions but after no luck on quickly searching for pictures or instruction i said the hell with it and just opened the hood. its too easy to want to put in typing ;)

ok i have a 92, and i didn't have to take off the grille

infact i can switch my front corner lights out in about 10 min per side.

theres 2 screw/bolt deals at the top of the head light, you have to open the hood to see them. If you can't find them try loosening to that look like they are holding a peice that looks similar on. its really not too bad....the hardest part is getting the corning lightsto fit into the little tabs at the very bottom ....you'll find out what i'm talking about

really the first time i did it i had no idea what i was doing and it only took me 30 mins for both sides.

little tip,
if he is going to put a small bulb in the side of the bottom lense, he must do it before the corner lights are all the way back on...because i don't think you can reach that bulb from under the hood.

goodluck

you probably don't have to take the grill out no, I was more or less just trying to let him know how little time it takes to get everything out ;)
