I just got my new clear front corner lights in the mail, and I figured they would be pretty easy to install, but instead I was left baffled and I have no idea what to do. Can someone give me step by step instructions to putting these in? Thanks a lot in advance.

It would help if you told us what year your Explorer is.

Sorry about that, its a 1995.

OK, I can help then. After you open the hood, you will see a black flap that cover where the headlights and parking lights are. Lift the flap. You should then see two screws that hold the corner lights in place. Unscrew the two screws, and then pry (with some force!) the corner lights out (forward). Thats it!

Alright thanks i'll try doing that tomorrow, i'll let u know how it goes

What kind of bulbs are you guys using in your clear corners? Stock? colored?

They came with some amber colored bulbs so i suppose i'll use those

I am using some optiblue bulbs which I love! I will try and get a better shot at night as I am still learning how to take pics at night. It looks SWEET just having 2 blue eyes stare at you when you are sitting there in a parking lot or something.

glc, those optiblues look sweet, those are for parking and turn signal right, how legal is that? I might try it sometime, where'd you pick up the bulbs?

I use a hyperwhite bulb, that gives off sort of a bluish tint. Looks really nice. Whatever you do, do not use amber bulbs or plain old white bulbs. It wont look good, and the amber bulbs will make it look just like stock. Get some good superwhites or blue if thats your fancy.

ill be buying these + the optiblue bulbs as soon as my paycheck clears... my grill guard put a hurtin on my checkbook, so I have t wait :(

anyway, Id like be be able to get them and just do them right away.

Few things
Anyone ahve detailed instructions on how to take the old orange ones out and put the clears in??

Are the corner bulbs hard to replace?

You can get the optiblue bulbs at autodynamic.com Dead Link Removed

They are under the category of colored bulbs and they are the #3157 optiblue bulbs. Large push-in type. For the corner bulbs I got PIAA blue wedge bulbs (#168 bulb) but any color blue will do...doesn't have to be PIAA. I just had an extra set is why I used those.

They are a cakewalk to swap out with your stock bulbs. Pop the hood and you will see two screws holding the light assembly in place. Just remove these two screws and the whole parking light/corner light assembly will slide right out. It will take some force to slide it out but don't be afraid. It will come right out. Switch the bulbs and then slide it back and replace the two screws. Takes me less than 5 minutes to do both sides.

I have been stopped before by police but have never been ticketed. The one cop said he seen my turn signal flashing blue and that's why he pulled me over. But no ticket.

Isnt this the exact same thing I stated earlier in the thread???

Regarding the cops, I have been pulled over and given a fix-it ticket.

Sorry sideswipe...you are right. I basically reitterated what you already said. Guess that's what I get for "skimming" through the other posts Dead Link Removed

no problem, but I see that you have a 93 explorer. Is it the same procedure for the 93's and the newer body style (95-2000) Explorers?

I believe they are the same. I know 91-94 have two phillip head screws holding on each side holding the lenses in place. There is no flap (at least on mine) that the screws are under.

I just posted pics of my ride in the explorer registry if you want to check it out. Thanks!

Thats one good looking Explorer. Reminds me of my old Navy Blue 91' Xplorer.....

Thanks...I have more planned but my bank account seems ro have other plans for my money

I would just like to encourage changing out the bulbs to some colored ones or something....why would you want your clears to look exactly like the stock ones? And they will, especially on your year if you put those yellow bulbs in there they won't look any different cause of the pattern makes the bulbs look the same. I got a 91 and i've had the apc superwhites, "hybrid superwhites", red and now I have green. I've been pulled over 4 times for the RED ones, ticketed twice, my next court date is oct. 5th for em, oh well, I love the way the red looked, now I have green though till I get these dismissed again but anyway I just think you'd be much happier with a colored bulb or a superwhite instead of the amber bulbs, show your clears off! BTW Gary nice X!

Thanks Newbz! I assume you have gotten other tickets dismissed? If so, how? I swap mine out with some hyperwhites when I am traveling long distance or going to an unknown area where a cop may not be so understanding.
