I realize this is an elementary question, but I hope someone could offer some help. I am installing mud flaps on my truck which requires drilling into the fender (wheel well). Is there any special procedure to protect the drill holes from rusting (touch-up paint or something) that I should do prior to permanently fastening the mud flaps?

Yup!! Use touch-up paint. If the area you're drilling isn't metal, but plastic, don't worry about using it.

Thanks 96! I figured as much, but didn't know if there was a trick to it or not. Much appreciated!

Since you are drilling upwards into the body, it might be a good idea to use a cordless drill.

The wheelwells might have some trapped water in them somehow, and drilling up into that with your electric drill would be an instant*Zap*for you:(

Yeah, use a cordless drill. To give you better access, take the wheel off and you'll have plenty of space.
