I just got a 2006 eddie baur explorer, which didnt come with the upper rear a/c system I was wondering is it possible to install the rear ceiling a/c system or no?

Also if there picture posting of this being done before, that will be nice.

Thanks everyone in advance for your feedback:)

I think that would require a 2 stage ac compressor. Instead of a 1 stage that the regular system has. I am not sure though, but if so that would be a big project.

In the end, it would probably be easier, and not much more expensive to trade yours for another 06 which has it.

We've got the rear air in our Mountaineer and I agree, it would be easier to trade for one that has it. You've got ductwork running through the ceiling, there's ductwork to the floor in the rear, the controller above the front seat, it's a different compressor (and only available for the V8 according to fastpartsnetwork.com), there's lots of different hoses and AC parts. The headliner alone is about $1000. You'd pretty much have to disassemble the whole interior of the truck to do this. I think this is one of those things that if they didn't build it that way at the factory, it's not practical to do it.

I do have to say, our dogs really like having their own heat and AC back there. If we can only teach them to tell us if it's too hot or too cold . . .

i have a question, i am think of attempting to installing the rear a/c in my vehicle what would be the parts i need, i am looking at going to junkyard because i know the people well in my area and they will give me a discount, probably around 200-300 for everything including the ceiling

I am planning to order some parts to install the rear a/c, i found a doner vehicle I am taking it from, but my question is when i was comparing my car vs my dads car with rear a/c to the pipes i would be needing, i one pipe going down below the engine area, i couldnt pin point where it ends but i am guessing there is 2 to a/c condenser, below the air filter is that correct or not
