I have a stock 2003 XLT 4.0 V6 and I know gas prices this summer are going to be retarded so I figured I'd try sqweeking the most mileage out of the X as possible. I get decent gas mileage (16-17 mpg this winter & 19-21 mpg last summer). I drive like a little old lady and keep my tires properly inflated. I read the topic "Quest for 30". So I've decided to mod the X a little. Currently I am running synthetic motor oil and will be flushing the tranny and differentials with synthetic as well, and I'll probably be swapping for an electric fan sometime soon and I wanna do an intake soon (obviously). So now my questions.
1. Is there a huge difference in power/mpg when using a modded stock airbox w/ a K&N filter over a cold air intake or vice versa??
2. Is there any way of removing the resonator from the intake tube and plugging it??
3. Any other suggestions??
