I was driving down the highway today and I hopped onto an on-ramp. This on-ramp had a large turning radious so I was on it for about 30 seconds. I turn my blinker on to signal that I was going onto the on-ramp...continue cruising when about 20-30 seconds later my car alarms (not security alarm but a sensor alarm like Check Gas Cap or Low Tire Pressure)...this freaked me out so I immediatly looked in the message center for a message...NOTHING. I didnt know what the heck it was so I continued my route monitoring my guages. On the way home I went back the same route and on another exit ramp the same thing happened. By now Im curious what is going on and come to the conclusion that your car will signal you with an alarm if you have your turn signal on for an extended period of time.

It is a pretty interesting feature because if there is one thing I cant stand, it is riding behind or beside someone who has had their turn signal on for the past 5 miles. Has anyone else noticed that on their explorers?

have never noticed it when i am driving my '99 X must be a new feature they slip into later models.

one thing i must add...for this feature to work you must be moving. it doesnt work while sitting still for obvious reasons but i tried it many times tonight and that is indeed what it is for.

so you where one of those guys last night leavin your blinker on for 5 miles and prolly doin 10 under the speed limit lol.

were you tailing me??? my damn stalker is back.

It seems that it´s a new feature in fords, my 2002 limited does not have it, but the 1998 Blazer i used to own also had it, it freked me out too the first time it happened, buy¿t it really is a nice feature.

If someone leaves their blinker on, I'll get either in front or behind them, leave mine on as well, and watch how many other motorists do the same. It's kind of funny to do...Not to mention the original person feels like a total idiot.

Oh yeah...Doing this once I discovered the turn signal reminder as well.

My 04 has the blinker alarm. Its a good feature as I cant stand the people who forget them either.

There are a lot of people that will never know about that feature because they don't use blinkers. I'm glad that brake lights aren't optional.

I can't tell you how many times I've had the same thought. You also have to love the ones that change lanes right on top of you and then flash their turn signal for a couple blinks AFTER they cut you off. :frustrate :fire:

It generally scares the hell out of me everytime it goes off...which has only been like 4 times in a year - and thank god for that because I hate being "that guy" leaving the blinker on

Heck where I live, its a bonus if they use them. Even though its a law, people around here dont often follow it. They run red lights, turn right from a left lane and just this morning, a car was going straight through a green light light and then at the last second, turned left while the redlight light was on for left turns, right in front of oncoming traffic and barely squeezed past in front of them. I work in the local ER and we get plenty of our share of car wrecks around here (having been in 2 in one months time span).

I have seen plenty of people riding around with their turn signal on. Too bad they dont have this feature on theirs.

It sounds like a nice feature, but I'm surprised the message center doesn't say what it is

has anyone come across that in any of the 03 models? i haven't noticed it, but i never leave my blinker on for extended periods of time. i am def. gonna check on the way into the office tomorrow morning. thanks for the heads up guys!

I'm from Tennessee. What's a blinker?

-Shawn

blinkers is a term used for your turn signals (they blink on and off to signal a turn)...blinkers, flashers, turn signals...all the same.

heh

..........uh, *cough*, I was joking, dude. In this state, no one signals a turn. If you go in any of our junkyards, you'll see rusty hulks with rotting steel, but pristine turn signals.... :D ;)

On a side note.....you know you're getting old when you start putting on your blinker to go around a curve. Of course, I've never done it!
