There only one brown wire in that bunch of wires? I think I could easily pull all of this off with a scotchlock.

Great pics Shortstack!
One question though. Did you get footprints on the headliner getting into position to take the pics?:D

it is alot easier to accsess it if you take the little panel of, as far as i know theirs only one. What you can do is poke a needle into the brown wire and use a test light to make sure. hahaha bill kemp naw i have a canon A95 that has a swivel out lcd screen so i could get the right angle without being upside-down ;)

Parking lights (+) -- Purple/White -- Driver's Kick panel
(+) -- Brown -- Driver's Kick Panel
Also (+) -- white/black -- Rear of light switch

Sorry it took me so long to respond, work and I have twins.

These are different options to tie into. Any of these wires are giving out a 12 volt constant when the parking lights are on. (I deleted the line for headlights cause it isn't relevant now) If you don't have a DMM(Digital Multi Meter) or a test light I would go to the back of your light switch and get the white/black wire. There's only one of them. That's where I always go for remote starters, alarms, etc. at the shop (easiest and less effort needed). If you were going to go to the driver's kick (take the sill plate off then the kick panel, you will see a wiring harness going to the back of the truck) I would test it. DMM are the safest, but you could use a test light if it's all you have. There shouldn't be any air bag wires going back there or anything that would be bad to test.

Follow these instructions up till "Disconnect the 2 plugs from the panel before removing it completely." Remove the Left plug (the one towards the driver door) and pull it down. You don't need to remove the radio trim cause you will only need to pull the left side of the dash out a little (lilke he did to pull out the plugs) and pull the harness down. if you look at pic #10 it should be the 4th wire down on the plug (from the top of the plug you see; tan/wht, orng, blk/wht, and then the wht/blk wire is behind the blk/wht wire a little.) Solder onto it and you're lights will only be on when the fogs are on.

I'm probably just going to use a scotchlok.

Can these wires also be accessed by taking the side panel off? Or are they not even in there? This bunch of wires is kinda difficult to search through.

The lights look good though, I have them temporarily wired up to the cig lighter inside the middle console.

Are you tlaking about the kickpanel on the left side of your left foot? Where the parking brake is? If so, than you can get to these two wires:

Parking lights (+) -- Purple/White -- Driver's Kick panel
(+) -- Brown -- Driver's Kick Panel

If I remember correctly they are in the harness going to the back of the x/merc. It will run under the sill plate.

It just pops off, right?

And both those color wires are for the parking lights, correct? Was also curious if it would be on when the autostart is on..? Because the switch is in the off-position but the autostart has the parking lights on..

Having trouble getting the panel off, but from what I saw when I had it partially pryd open, there's a bunch of wires running along the floor under the paneling.. are those what you were talking about?

I need to find the easiest way possible to get to this wire, I'm not having much luck at all.. everything is so .. crowded..

Could ya yank it off n make a quick little write-up? if it's not too much to ask.................................................

You have to find the brown wire!

Storlied m'boy, get a repair manual before the rest of the forum goes bananas. If you already have one, read from front to back a few times.

just take those 2 small bolts out and pull on it hard, try and pull strait back on where they clip in if you pull hard enough it will pop right out.

To take the kick panel pop the sill plate off. Than take out the xmas tree clip from the kick panel under the brake. Than you can pull ot off. No need to take off the panel under the steering wheel.

Don't mind the messy-ness. It's been cold and wet out (especially the foot of snow we just got last night) so I haven't been able to clean her out. Oh and don't mind the wires, was trying to fix something while it was cold out and was kinda rushing.

Take the sill plate off by pulling up with your fingers under the edge towards the front of it.(should come up very easily):

If you don't have a panel popper it might be a little tough taking this out the first time, but put your fingers behind the kick panel and put fingers on each side of this clip (the circle). Now pull toward the passenger side, straight out. Then grab the panel where the sill plate meets it and pull straight towards the back. Watch out where it meets the A pillar by the fuse box (pic after this one)it slides down from behind it.

This is what the clip looks like.

Now in this bundle of wires should be the wires. Easy to get to. No need to reach under the dash, no need to curl into a ball to get to tight places, etc.

Got it, that's what was stopping me from getting it out yesterday.. the little button clip. Thanks, this should be a lot easier now.

Does water get in there a lot? I'm planning on using a scotchlock to get to that wire.. I think I might have to seal it with silicon.

I would say so. The water from your feet tends to get in there. It just melts and puddles down. Do you know how to sodler at all? If so I would def. recommend doing it. Either way tape it up well it electrical tape too and it will help keep water from getting in there. Silicone is a little mutch. Especially if you ever need tot ake it off at some point.
