Is it AWD or 4WD?

Im thinking of testing something on my 99 sport with the driveshaft off but from what I read on here you should never remove the front driveshaft if you have the AWD.Mine has a switch inside that says Auto,low,high.So is mine AWD and is it safe to remove my front shaft to drive it for a test?

If yours has the turn knob selector then you have automatic 4wd ie control trac. You can safely remove the front shaft but make sure you set the parking brake in case the park paw goes bad.

its a sport, its 4wd

awd only came on the 5.0 engines and those came only on the 4 door xlt's and mountaineers

Don't forget they also came in Eddie Bauer's, and Limited's. I think the only ones it was not available was the XL and XLS.
