I am looking at an 8.8 axle for sale. The guy says it came from a late model Explorer. He says in the listing that it has a locker. When I asked him what locker he replied that it was the Ford stock locker. I know that's impossible, BUT by looking at the picture can someone tell me if there is a locker in this diff? Maybe what brand?

Looks like limited slip to me.

Ford did offer a locker I believe but you had to order it.......

I agree with 410Fortune, looks like limited slip.

But Ford l/s's had the big spring looking thing on the side...........

...the plot thickens

I believe Ford used different L/S units in different years...

but again dont quote me on that :)

It could be a torsen limited slip out of an FX4

well its not a locker! we got that much!!!

If it is a Ranger rear the spring pads will be up top and the shock mounts are different from the Ex, should be wasy to tell

he is using salvage yard terminoligy.

any traction aid in the differential according to salvage yards is a "locker" that includes limited slips, ETCD's and HDC's. that looks to me to be auburn limited slip unit in there though.:D
