WHoa!....I guess I feel a lil better if that's possible after shelling out over a grand on something. Still haven't seen the bill yet though ......:( .....Anyways, as long as my truck is running better than it has been lately and can last another couple years til I get a new car. Peace.

somebody mentioned a "milkiness" showing up in the engine oil, i think it was back on the first page

could somebody please comment on this. I have a freind that has this showing up on his '81 vette. he is also losing coolant somewhere.

I don't think he has overheated it but i will check again with him. just trying to help him out with it. Had some ideas but wanted to know what the "milkiness" was coming from.

Engine has maybe 3500 miles on it. putting out about 450HP. car is new to him and he is not 100% positive on history.

also he recently had his oil pump clogged by a peice of silicone that came lose and jammed in there. he was not having the coolant problem before this. exhaust coming out one side is smokey but fine on the other (true duals)

thanks in advanced for any help

Sounds like your friends Vette has water in the oil. When the oil looks "milky" it usually means there is water present. This can come from either condensation or coolant leaking into the oil. If his oil pump was blocked, he may have damaged the motor due to lack of oil. This can result in overheating and a cracked or warped head, cracked block, or blow head gasket. I think I'd be running some tests on that motor. I think a cylinder leakdown test is probably in order, and maybe a check of the coolant for exhaust gasses. There are dyes available that you can put into your cooling system that will show up as flourescent under a blacklight if there is carbon monoxide in the coolant.

Dover cylinder head in College Park, GA sold me a new set of 4.0 heads (new castings and parts) assembled for $165 each. Worth checking into.
