I found this auction on Ebay:

Is this 2" lift even worth the money? I am a college student and I am looking to get new shocks and new tires........this 2" lift would give me a little more room for my tires and I can fit this lift in my budget!

What do you think about it?

Thanks.

:D

Looks like a spacer/add-a-leaf lift. There's a few around here with setups like that. Though there are other methods you can consider. I am not familiar with the company though. Most around here go with the F-150 spacers for the front and Warrior shackles for the rear. I'm not sure how much of a price difference you'll wind up with, though, That kit is $90 + $22 shipping. I don't know the price of the F-150 spacers, but Warrior shackles to your door are about $55. You might come out cheaper with the F-150 spacers and shackles. Plus, shackles are much easier to install than add-a-leafs.

the f150 spacers from torrie at www,fordpartsnetwork.com are 14.99 per side...so $30 plus shipping......

Thanks..........Im going to look into the F150 spacers and shackles. Would these be easy to install by myself?

Stephen S......where did you price the warrior shackles for $55.

How much of a lift will I get with the F-150 spacers/warrior shackles? Thanks.

The last time I called Desert Rat (www.desertrat.com) asking about them, the price I was told was $49.99 + $6 shipping. So, it was $56. I don't know if they have raised the price since then, or if your shipping will be higher if you are farther away, but that's what I was told. If you browse around the for sale forum long enough, you might find someone willing to sell their spacers and/or shackles if they are going bigger. It depend on how long you are willing to wait. Good luck!

The install is pretty straight forward and you can do it yourself with some patience and some tools. The shackle/spacer lift will get you about 1 3/4" of lift.

Sorry but I have one other question.....My Explorer was my Dad's company ride but they bought him a new Explorer. When they replace things, they use factory stuff. When I put these shackles and spacers on will I be able to use the factory shocks temporairly or do they need to be replace at the same time? Is there anything else that will need to be replaced from stock parts?

I'm pretty sure that the stock shocks will work fine with the small lift. But, if you can afford it, replacing the shocks with some aftermarket ones will improve the ride. And installing the front ones will be easier since the front will already be apart. You might want to look at some Monroe Sensatracs, or Gabriels for good, reasonably inexpensive replacements. A few people around here run them. Try a search on shocks...there are many threads about them.

does anyone know the ford part number for the f-150 spacers? or do they have to be any particular year f-150? thanks

1997 ford front coil seats for an f150 2 wheel drive

thanks a lot jimabena

Ok.....so I think Im going with the F-150 spacers/warrior shackles to lift my 1992 X 4x4 XL. What do I need.....just the spacers and shackles? Are the shackles made specifically for the Explorer? What type of F150 spacers do I need? Thanks.

jimabena, dont the 97's have torsion bars? not coil springs?

the 97 f150 has coils

again i will reiterate.... Ford 1997 F150 Coil Seats for 2WD

ok just making sure, the parts guy here had no idea what i was talking about and suggested that they had the torsion bars and thus no springs. thanks for the info.

The shackles are part number WAR-153 and the are specifically made for Explorers.

Don't forget to get a front end alignment after installing the coil spring spacers. And you will probably need a camber adjustment kit, but any good alignment shop will have those in stock and will charge you for it as part of the alignment.

what is a camber adjustment kit?

when it gets lifted the tire kinda do / \

when it gets the camber adj kit they return to | |

Actually Jim, they kinda do like \ / ;) when looking at the vehicle from the front. It's not that severe of course, but the camber kit sets them back like | | as Jim put it.
