will a lift 4in susupension lift from a 96 ranger work on my 91 explorer?

The lift should work but from my understanding rangers already have spring over axle in the rear and explorer don't. So you'll have to flip the axle which may take a little time. Summit has some rear spring perches for under $20 for a 3" rear axle. It's worth checking out.

the front is TTB for both, so it should lift the front end, but the rear is a different case, since yes, the ranger is SOA.
but the rear of your explorer will be easy to lift with some shackles, and and add a leaf. or completely new leafs if you really want.
