I just got my new shocks from the UPS guy today and I've got a quick question. They are fully compressed, but there are no bands or zip ties holding them, I was always under the impression they had to be held in place with something to stay compressed. Is this normal? I've never installed shocks before, so that's why I'm asking.

Yes, just pull them out, so both ends will match up on the vehicle.

When i got my rancho shocks they came compressed with a piece of wire holding it together so it wouldnt be able to extend out.

My RS5000's were the same as yours, thats the way they should be. Make sure you have all the mounting hardware in the boxes, mine was missing some of the bolts in one of the boxes.

Thanks guys.

I've got all the hardware, at least I think I do. They even included zip ties for the shock boots.
