Ours had a bad blend door motor. A diagnostic code flagged this. No problems since the blend motor was replaced.

Just to note, our was opposite....PS was blowing cold.

I recommend showing the dealer what’s happening, Scott. I still have your Explorer’s VIN from before, so drop a line if you’d like me to lend a hand. :)

Normally a flash will fix the blender issues, sometimes it can be the blender motor, or the panel itself.

happens to me too, but I'm sure it won't be reproduced on demand. i also notice the actual temp varies whenever it wants to, it will be on 72 and blow warm on one day then the next the same 72 setting will feel cool, or even cold....

Ford has new tsb for this. Here you go

when you say a diagnostic code flagged it, were any warning lights on and you had it checked, or they just checked and saw the flag? I'm asking cause i don't have any check engine or any other lights on, so can it still be in my diagnostics?

No CEL was lit. The tech hooked up the computer & there was a code stored.

I want to lend a hand with this, vig1116. I have your Explorer’s details from previous messages, so shoot a PM if you’d like my help.

Cory

Could be as simple as the HVAC system set on "DUEL" and not "AUTO".

*edit, ignore me, I see you stated the temps are set the same. Sorry.

Hey Cory, thanks for the offer. As of now, I spoke to the guy in the service dept where I bought the truck and gave him a list of what I wanted fixed and he said bring it in and he'll take care of it in a day or two. He seems to think he can get the parts next day and get it back to me quick. It also helps my mother in law works at the dealership.... Lol. I will however take you up on the offer if I need the "big guns" to get involved!!! :) Thx!

You’re welcome, vig1116. Although, it sounds like you already have the “big guns” covered! ;)

Cory

cory, i just may need you soon after all. I brought it in today and was chewing the fat with the service rep and he's like, "the windshield noise is just a gromit under the dash that needs to be replaced. it sounds like its the windshield but its really not!?!" i was like no, its definitely the A-pillar rattle, not the dash!!! :splat: i'm sure the guy who drives it will see what i mean but i was like jeez here we go, this is never gonna get fixed.... lol PS i told you you're the BIG GUNS!!!! lol

so, got my ex back today. I'm split on happy and semi pissed. according to the paperwork, for the temperature issue, all it says they did was "updated HVAC module to latest level", let's see if that works. The brake squeal, couldn't replicate so they did nothing. As for the A-pillar rattle, they replaced the right side moulding, but not the left!!!!! on the left side i see they globed black silicone all over the seal, and wrote in the notes "found left side trim lose and tightened up". Why not replace both sides according to the TSB?????? anyway, no sound as of yet so I'm happy with that, but left side is going to be the same in a while I'm sure. Finally the streaky windows. I think they followed TSB exactly, so hopefully they are fixed!!!!

Having the exact same problem.

Kevin

My 2011 started doing this as well but was fixed a couple weeks ago via following the tsb on this issue.

What is the tsb and where can i find it?

you can find it above in post #6 .

I had exact same problem, did the tsb and that fixed, just make you do it while under warranty.

2011 EXP no heat on driver side when cold out

So the last two times I have driven my CPO 2011 EXP Limited (new to me in end of 2014) the climate control has not responded to the call for heat on the drivers side. It blows heat out the passenger side but not the driver's side. It happens only on cold mornings. I made an appointment at the dealer I bought the vehicle from. On my way to drop it off the system acted up as usual but after twenty min. into a thirty min. drive, heat started coming from the driver side. So guess what I had to hear from the dealer. You guessed it, "Sorry we could not duplicate the problem. We will try again in the morning and give you a call". Just like going to the doctor my car seemed to seem fine when she found out she was on her way to the dealer (would not doubt that Ford has some kind of link to the Nav. system to fix itself if it scenes its close to a Ford dealer. HAHA) Now going into summer the chance that it will be cold enough outside for the system to act up are slim. And my EXP will be out of warranty by next winter. Is anyone having this problem only when its cold out? To top it off the guy driving the morning shuttle car gave me this horror story about how my whole dash has to come out. Something I don't want to pay for myself this winter on a CPO car.
