I`ve heard the old myth that you can use Coke to clean rust off chrome, always thought it was a joke. Well the other day I saw on Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel, they tested, it and proved it does work. I tried it on my 2001, theres one small discoloration on the back bumper, and few spots underneath out of sight that I tried it on. I cant believe how easy it works, you just dip some crumpled up aluminum foil up in a glass of coke, and rub it on the chrome where its rusted. Its easier than waxing! The hardest part was wiping it back down with some windex to wipe away the stickiness from the coke.

If you check the pH of Coke, you might never drink it again.

I'm guessing its quite a bit on the acidic side?

It also works wonders at taking soap scum off a bath tub. :)

Coke also works wonders on battery acid.

It does all this stuff and people drink it too !?!?!?

Now that is crazy talk !!!

I think he means it's good for cleaning the deposits off of battery terminals.

A tooth put in a glass of coke will dissappear after a couple of days. Or so says my Chem Prof anyways.

a bit of dirt on a rag also works....doesn't make it stay off but it'll get some light rust off of chrome... :)

They tried it on Mythbusters, over two days all it did was discolor the tooth.

Coke, being strongly acidic, works on battery acid? How? Please explain.

To be completely honest with you, no, I can't explain :D

All I know is if there is a pile of, well what ever that stuff is on the battery terminal, pour some Coke on it and it is gone !!!!!!!!!!!!!
A little bit of wire brush and you are good to go.

Makes a great degreaser to. Just put your bike chain or whatever in a 2 litter bottle of coke, leave over night and its as good as new in the morning.

Back in the old days, we used it on the windshield to really get the crud off.

works great on battery terminals. since its higly acidic - it conducts electricity. in my old car, the battery terminals werent making very good contact because i ghetto rigged up a 4 ga wire connection to it for my amp. just poured a can of coke on the terminals and viola! it worked great for over 2 years til i totalled the car.

will it work on heavily rusted areas? does it work on chrome only?

ive heard if you put a piece of meat in coke it will dissolve (slowly) but nevertheless it eats it right up

If you're drinking Coke, you have to drink it right away, if you let it sit around the more acidic it is and that will cause excessive decay.

As the saying goes...."Sip all day, get decay"
