1993 Ford Explorer XLT
Hi all,

I've been searching threads on here back to 2002 looking for a reasonable jacking point with a heavy duty floor jack and a spot for jack stands on the front of a 1993 Ford Explorer XLT. I've found lots of explanations on here but without pictures I have no idea what these spots they speak of are. I do not have the original owners manual but the one sheet I found says to use the shock, but this wont work with my floor jack very well. I've tried to use the spot right under neath the fender like you would with a car, but obviously this spot isnt designed to hold a the load on an SUV like it is with a car. I've used one spot underneath near one of the cradle bolts with a bushing right above it, this piece was immediately behind the front tire. Any input appreciated.

I put the floor jack under the front differential to jack it up. Then I put the jack stands under the shock towers. Works fine.

marragtop, are you saying you put the jack stands under the shocks then, where you would put the emergency factory jack?

I found this pic in another thread. If you have a floor jack then lift right under the Radius Arm bracket as in the picture below: Please disregard the jack stands as they are improperly being used (the wood is supports are too small and the stands are too close together).

Makes sense, and then place the jackstands underneath the shocks would be ok?

under the shocks would be on the radius arms on your truck, I would put the jack stands under the BEAMS not the radius arms.
Place them out as close to the wheel as you can on the beams. You will see where the radius arm bolts to the beam there is also a bracket that picks up your sway bar drop link, you can put the jack stand right there.

Thanks for the advice, its hard to visualize without a picture of this beam. I'll have to take a closer look when I'm under there again and put some names to the parts.
