Does anyone know an excellent suspension specialist in the NYC area? I need to have a James Duff Stage 2 suspension system and poly body mounts installed on my '93 XLT. Lookin' for someone smart who knows what he/she's doin' - an experienced pro. Any help will be appreciated!

I'm up around Albany and did it myself. I have some friends in the city who may know someone who can help but they were into modding/racing 5.0 mustangs and not lifting explorers. When you get this installed, I suggest you look at the '80-86 f-150 4x4 rear leaf swap on this site and not use the add-a-leaf that duff provides. I didn't get a full 3 inch lift from the add-a-leaf and the backend sagged from the springs being 14 years old. The modified '86 springs I put on gave me a 4 inch lift (with the duff shackles) and ride great.

Thanks for the advice. I don't need much of a lift - as little as possible, actually - my ride is an urban road machine that needs to get me out to the striper spots out at the beach. The most off-roadin' it sees is getting through some occasional sand - no rock climbin' here. I do need a better than new road & city ride, something more solid and safer than new. I was anticipating replacing the rear leafs as mine too, are as old as the truck. I was considering replacing the rear end with one from a '97 for the disc brake conversion. I've put in Helwig bars and polyurethane bushings throughout so far. I think I'll also do the body bushing as well. How's your ride with the new James Duff Stage 2? Any advice or observations is appreciated.

For what you are looking for I'd go the cheap route & get front coil spacers & rear shackles. Then some good riding shocks. The ride won't change much. Any lift you do with springs & an AAL will make the ride rougher. I had my X in NYC recently & on my suspension it was a very rough ride. I couldn't live with the ride everyday living there.
