No they are rebuilt and flow matched and you get a core charge, way cheaper!!

well i stripped 2 bolts from the steering set, they still didnt go in far enough and as i turned the middle they pulled right out. so i tried the big bolts from the hb puller kit and put nuts on the other side since those werent threaded. those bolts ended up loosing an inch of thread that snapped right off.

so having destroyed the steering kit and the hamonic kit(sanded the ends of them to make them look right so i can return them), can i take the crank out with the pulley still attached? i mean if im just gonna get one from ronin or rockauto anyway... then ill just get another harmonic

Im pretty sure the front timing cover wont come off unless its off

yep it wont come off without taking the pulley off first.
found another problem. i didnt do this:

now i have to wait for my grandpa to get back to see if he can get that out. in the meantime is it ok to wash the oil pan inside and out? or will that create flash rust that was mentioned?

im thinking i shouldve shoved a 302 crate in here... prob wouldve been easier/less time lol

NO 302, KEEP GOING!!!

You can clean the oil pan with water, you just have to make sure you dry it COMPLETELY.. then I'd spray something in it like WD40 (if that's petroleum based).. something to repel water/rust while you work on it

EDIT -- this is what I was told by a mechanic**

How the hell that happened. Yea its fine.yep if i had to do it again i would have put a 347 in

no idea. i didnt do it, i just noticed it tonight. i have no idea how thats gonna effect putting it back together, cause that bolt isnt gonna work anymore. i cant find new covers either

i think letting it bake in the sun to dry would be good enough? lol

edit: found one on ebay, $50. get it or will mine be salvageable?

ehhh put a little rtv around the edge there, you'll be fine. If I'm looking at it right, get a longer bolt with a flanged end.. it looks like you got half of the old surface there for the bolt to press down on.

What meet up and when is it?what all do you have left to get?

(we were teasing(brandon*cough*) you on the 2nd page)

umm. im waiting on radiator, water pump, heater hoses, tensioner, idler pulley, oil pump, thermostat, pistion rings to come in. all ordered already tho.
then a crankshaft and efan(ronins), INJECTOR SET(*cough*)
and besides random crap here and there, that would be it.

random crap list so far: 1 "V" washer for valve covers, and ring under throttle sensor, mid sized tranny-to-motor bolt thats playing Houdini

these are the guys i used.i cant seem to find a set that is for a first gen but im 99% sure these are them.they just dont make the style that first gen uses any more,i think.it says its for a 2nd gen with a vin that ends in x and as far as i know 2nd gens use the same 19lb injectors as first gen but are the 3 or 4 spray hole type.they use to give you a core charge, but they have bidding on a set 8,it may end up being cheaper than the buy now price of 6.you may just send them an email and ask to make sure they are or our trucks and if they offer a core or an "offer price" or will put a set of 6 up for bidding

They have a set of 8 that people are bidding on and current bid is $60

I dont see why you cant use regular hight temp paint like engine paint

maybe it hinders cool air from getting through the radiator? if it doesnt matter, im gonna buy the 500F stuff cuz the 2000F is getting expensive lol

speaking of high temp paint. my headers are ceramic coated already, can i take 200F temp paint over that with the color i want?
