Joining the bandwagon, my 4L OHV build

got a lean CEL again. came on 2miles into driving, went off 10sec later. then got it again 10miles into driving and it stayed on.
my o2 is on my cat at the flange, and the y-pipe to cat flange isnt bolted all the way tight and theres no gasket still. that has to be it

And im pretty sure you have an exhaust leak on that passenger side header
 












I would just try and tighten them all first BUT BE CAREFULL NOT TO OVER TIGHTEN OR STRIP THEM!! You can start it cold and run out there and put your hand under and around the header to feel for air,should have about a min before gets to hot.or get a ft long pipe and do a sniffer test,move pipe along the header and sniff the other end!!hahaha it works!!also double check your intake and fuel filter
 






i know how much you want my powdercoated parts, but you dont have to tell me to kill myself by smelling my exhaust through a pipe to get them :/

as far as intake im gonna put the old maf on there. until i get a new pipe made/bought to fit the mustang one correctly.
i still need to buy a new fuel filter to put on, didnt do that yet
 






ok, didnt fix anything today. but i had an issue with my glasses and couldnt drive home from work. so i got picked up and my grandpa drove my truck. its so damn quiet when youre not in the drivers seat!! i think all he made it to was around 2-2.5rpms and it wasnt really loud at all.

basically, i want the cats out! open headers to a tail pipe! make it loud again!
 


















i would also tend to say its the IAC valve. before you spend the 40 someodd dollars on a new one, take throttle body cleaner and soak the inside of it for a while and see what good that does. then use a compressor and blow out all that crud.
 






i think i may have messed something up with the iac. i took it apart and cleaned it before the top-end rebuild to fix the screw ups. i may just try a new one. only if tightening my exhaust doesnt work tho. i still havent done that yet lol....
this is the first time it did that, before ive just had surging idle/voltage. it did do it again on thursday. i was driving and my rpms seemed to be sticking when i let go of the gas. when i stopped it was at 1k again. shut the truck off and turned it back on and it was ok.
then what was funny, my tranny has issues and everybody behind me missed the green light cause it wouldnt get into gear lolol
 






oh yea, i hit 512 miles on it already. noticed it when i got gas friday. :D
jd, you said full synthetic is fine at this point? i think ill just do a half n half anyway tho
the bearing are set so i can run open headers again right? :D :D
 






I've got an extra OEM IAC (if the 1st/2nd gens are the same) that has about 50k on it.
Still works perfectly fine, just old.

I'll send it to you for $10 through PayPal..

Yea half and half.trans trouble??is it going out? If so i told you that od was the first sign
 






ok ill go get half-n-half then.
i know its going out. if i careful with it its ok. when i turn the truck on i have to wait like 30secs to put it into drive, any sooner and everything is neutral. and no matter what i still dont have the first D next to neutral(the OD one).

brandon take a pic of it, cause they make them different. some have a cap on them for egr or some crap. mine has nothing except the wire harness

no idea. ill see what trying to fix the exhaust leaks does first.

seafoam. 1/5 vacuum tree, 2/5 oil, 2/5 gas tank. set for 10min. it didnt smoke very much. did a little bit when driving down the road, and at a light it had some.


that is also what it sounds like dumped after the cats
 






Wow, I'm just starting to catch back up with the site and need to get Elite status again....andf wow again you have alot of pages on this write up and I'm to lazy to read through it.... where are you at on this?
