man 1st gens were built alot stronger. same thing happened to me, and i just needed to replace a bumper

Yeah cept' I am a body man and not a painter. As the adage goes body men cant paint and painters cant do body work.

The price you pay for a pain job will depend on your level of expectation.
If you want show quality no less than 5k for an SUV.
Shop around some independant shop, look at the cars they have on the lot to see the kind of results they yield. For a repair based paint job as you are seeking around a grand is not unreasonable for a good quality spray if you do all the detrim work.

DIY you have serious health and enviroment challanges. I would NOT advise it at all.
