Hope ya'll dont mind me posting this after my other post on giving up the skunk, heres the deal, this is really really hard for me, and I want your opinion ---- now please dont vote to keep it just cause im plannin on buildin a Chevy, cause im gonna build it reguardless of my decision, anyway, heres the facts, and please vote seriously.

Good facts:
its a big ass truck
it wheels better then alot of jeeps
its awsome off road
it attracts chics bigtime
its mad popular
it attracts chics bigtime :D

Bad facts:
I owe $12k on it
its terrible on the road
ALOT of work to keep it trail ready
Im sorta bored with it
the chics it attracts have a hard time getting into it
costs alot to maintain

now I cant say that the results will make up my mind, but it will have some factor in my decision, so please, EVERYONE VOTE!!!!!

And thanx!

I say keep it

Attracting fine chics beats everything else out:D Are you selling or just letting it go back?

it attracts chics bigtime
Thats enough to keep it in my book. No seriously, I think you are very proud of it and have alot of time and cash in it. Im hoping this is just a bad time and you dont have these problems constantly. I say stick it out one more time and hopefully things will get better.

keep it you have spent so much time and money on it. i would love for people to be able to recognize my truck all over. i say keep it and build your chevy and have two nice trucks. there is no way you could be able to get the 12 you owe out of it, so keep it

I say keep it.. Keep it as a trail rig.

Yeah, I wouldn't think it would be worth selling it.

how in the heck do you owe 12k on that thing? its not that new is it? i would forget selling it then.. i don't think you'd get anywhere near that for it. not a lot of desire out there for a rig like that. keep it.

btw..

i don't think the chic attracting stuff should be a factor if that statement is true.. i didn't know you were married.

I don't think you'd get the 12k either... people mostly don't have that kind of vision ;)

Keep it... but let me advise trying to get it payed down before you spend a lot on the other truck. If some idiot nails you on your way to the trail you may not get the 12k from insurance. I'm not sure how upside-down you are on the loan but that would really hurt.

I wasnt planning on selling it, I would never get 12k for it, I would just give it to the finance company, as for insurence..... .whats that? I never even had collision on it, even tho its financed, my company never even asked me about that, becides, collision dont cover me anyway offroad, and I live 5 min from the park and I dont drive it anywhere anymore becides there. as for the other truck, I could have that thing lifted for nuttin, chevy parts around here grow on trees and I got alot of friends with chevy trees. to be honest, I just really sick and tired of paying $440 a month for it, I reciently became disabled, my vision was so bad I needed a cornea transplant, Im on disability now and they dont pay all that much. I would definitly keep the truck if I didnt have to pay all that money each month, it was easy when I was working making 50k a year, now I just cant do it.

Look where I live.... in NJ insurance is a much bigger worry ;)

Sounds like you have a decent plan, except are you sure allowing the truck to be repo'd won't mess up your credit?

For those reasons, I would try to sell it, see what you can get for it, maybe the finance company will give you a personal loan for the difference. I wouldn't let it go back, 2 reasons, one credit rating, although being disabled is a good reason, second is you will end up paying the difference in the end, if you owe 12, and they sell it for 8, you will still owe them 4 grand. Another option would be to try to refinance with the same company, they may understand your need and lower your rate, or extend the time.

I voted keep it because I think you're gonna find that the finance company probably won't see the offroading capability of the truck as an asset, and might consider it a write-off. If they do that, then they will probably take the truck and still hold you liable for the payments. You would be without the truck, and still be required to pay for it. I think from a financial point of view, you are either better off working out a better payment rate with the finance company, getting a personal loan at a lower rate with a longer payoff time so you can pay off the finance company and have a lower payment, or seeing if you can sell it to someone in the 4x4 community to get as much value out of the vehicle as possible, as X-1 said.

what do you want to replace it with?

i think a good question is what you're planning on replacing it with if you get rid of it. if you just plan on replacing it with another off-road vehicle, then it's def not worth it. unless you get a jeep, you're prob going to have IFS. it wouldn't be worth it to try to build another off-road vehicle just as capable. it also doesn't address your bad facts. another off-roader will still be terrible on the road, still cost alot to maintain, and still be hard for the chics to get in. plus, you have a very one-of-a-kind automobile, a solid-axle, lifted, soccer-mom explorer that can out perform jeeps and pick-ups!

no offense, my ride is fairly similar, there is no way you would get anywhere near 12k out of that.:(

I don't know why but it won't let me vote...can someone take care of that lol...

KEEP IT..there is a lot of heart and soul in that truck and I just may be crazy but I would miss it beyond most other wordly things if I had to get rid of my truck and money wise I ain't put nearly as much as you into it and certainly not time wise....

I can see being bored with your X because it's done. Now all you're doing is maintaining it. But an older Chevy is gonna be a bigger pain to start all over with and then maintain. Plus you won't have any money to fix up the Chevy if you're still making payments on the X.

What makes it terrible on the road.?

I won't sell it. You owe too much and will not get it back. If you take on another project, you will be further in debt.
