I have a (stupid?) question, that I'm sure is OK to do, but I thought I'd ask - just in case.

Can aluminum blocks sold as "Lowering Blocks" be used as lifting blocks?

I cannot think of a reason that they can't - maybe someone has differing info?

Thanks.

For the record, my new Deaver springs work great, but don't lift truck quite enough...

...Are you still using your stock blocks? and are you thinking of adding/stacking these lowering blocks on top of them?

..Another question...Do you have extended shackles or are you still running stock shackles?

I wouldn't trust them, I've seen them split before. If they were solid aluminum, I wouldn't hesitate to use them but I've never seen any sold that way. How much lift are you looking for?

No, currently not using any blocks.

My shackles are inverted, with stock shackles.

Only 3/4" or so - just a little. The springs were built with a 4" lift, and built to carry the weight of the truck. Unfortunately, we didn't have a common reference point to measure for the lift.

Maybe I will just fabricate some from solid aluminum.

Why not just go with some longer shackles?

Gotcha- I missed that part. :)

No worries...I'm sure i'm pissing off some of the pre-runner guys since i'm using dropped hangers in a standard fashion(not flipped) with longer shackles.

Seems to be working out pretty good, the bottom of the shackles are even with the frame so I get a nice departure angle.
