Does anyone else have a problem with their explorer leaking drops of oil, antifreeze, mine is a slow leak that messes up all my bushing.
Any ideas on how to solve my problem.
Best way to do this is to clean the engine with engine degreaser. Let it dry. Run the engine and see where the drips are coming from and change that part.
I dont think engine degreaser is going to take off the 13 years of road gunk. I would try something such as a grinder but I dont think its worth the work to find such a slow leak.
This leak is very slow about two quarter sizes every night on my pavement.
It's also hard to see anything with out a lift.
Engine degreaser is a lot stronger than you think. The strongest I've used so far is the Castrol degreaser in spray bottle form. If the gunk is just too much then use a wire brush after soaking the engine with the degreaser for a few minutes.
Sounds good i'll try that the next time I go to a local do it yourself car wash, those degreasers leave stains on pavement. Also the high pressure rinse should help get that carp off.
Most common leakage spots on 1st gen:
COOLANT
1. plastic tanks in radiator
2. lower hose or upper hose or overflow hose
3. heater hoses
4. out the gasket
5. freeze plug
MOTOR OIL
1. rear main seal
2. valve covers
3. oil pan/drain plug
4. oil filter
TRANS FLUID
1. tranny cooler hoses/lines
2. trans pan
3. overflow tube
4. torque converter area
Just to name another highly overlooked cause of coolant leaks is.. the cooling system flush T this is a plastic T installed into a heatercore hose for use of flushing your coolant system.. well I had a coolant leak that I couldnt locate untill one day my plastic T finally let go completely and I then had a major coolant leak. also I also have oil leaks and they are coming from the valve cover gaskets but thats a job I havent been able to motivate myself into doing.

Do you have a list for FUEL? I have one but it doesn't seem to be a constant leak. There are days were there is a strong smell of fuel leak but other times I can't smell a trace of it. I plan on replacing the fuel line from the filter forward but where else could it be?

Where is "out the gasket"? Which gasket?
On my 1998 5.0, there is a bit of coolant that drips at the motor/tranny interface. I checked the heater hoses above that area, but there is no sign of leakage there. Where else could coolant be leaking from in that area?
