I was shopping at Target with my girlfriend yesterday and found this pair of LED tubes (similar to neon ones but LED's instead) on sale for $6.45 so I said what the heck and got a package. Davo (Digger196) and I installed them this morning and it was awesome!! I took a pic of it. Tell me what you guys think:

what do the actual tubes look like? it looks good

my yota is in need of a dome light :)

They look nice and they seem pretty bright.

Well, they're cool if you're Vin Diesel and you're driving a four banger...

Honestly, Billy, with the clean install of the Palm (Dell?), it looks like the interior is having an identity crisis. Part of it wants to be professional, with the digital HVAC and Palm, and the other part wants to be a teenager with the neons (well, LEDs).

I am not knocking you personally - I think you've kept your X the nicest for its age (of everyone on the site). I just never really got the neons thing, and still don't. But, if you like it, that's most important. Ignore people like me. :)

Jim, I'll try to take a pic of it tomorrow. It's similar to a neon tube but instead, a strip of concealed breadboard with 8 or 9 LED's soldered on there. They're very bright when lit. But since I have it wired to the dimmer circuit in the ashtray so I can adjust the brightness. It's awesome!!!

Oh no...I value your opinions. Thank you. But since I couldn't return them because it was a clearance item, I'm glad they actually work. That's the only thing I'll be installing involving neon tubes or LED tubes. Also, I have the things on a switch so I can turn them off when needed so it's pretty cool.

not to change focus, but can i mod this to put in my 3rd brake since the neon died?!?

The LED's are so bright. Much brighter than my neons. The neons give a more fullier shine than LED's from what I can see in the picture. We tryed to make it as professional as possible. I like them.

Yeah I think that would be do able. I've never tryed it.

Yeah...that's one of the disadvantages with LED's. They are very focused. They are actally a lot brighter than the neons installed in Davo's truck but his light is a lot more distributed than my LED's.

You can definitely put a strip of LED's in the brake light. Someone has done this, but I don't remember who though.

No problem. Go right ahead. :)

What brand of led's are those, they look very nice.

Ricers would mount them so that the tubes are visible

Thanks!! I have no clue what they were. I bought them from Target for only $6.45 plus tax. If they were a lot more expensive, I wouldn't get them.
