This forum has been great with helping me with my mountaineer! Now I am ready to do a lift. I am planning on doing a 2" Torsion Twist with either Shackles or Add a Leaf Kit. I want a 2" Lift on it.

Questions:
Will the 2" torsion twist affect the ride?
Will the 2" torsion twist be the safest route to go??
Whats better, Shackles or Add a Leaf??
Will these modifications affect the way the car rides?
Do I need new shocks with this? if so what shocks are good?

Thanks,
Justin

Answers:
1. Yes.
2. Safest as in easiest without cost, then yes.
3. Depends, is ride quality important to you?
4. Yes.
5. No. Again, it depends on your preferences and the surface you will be driving your vehicle on.

Summit Racing has discontinued the Long style AALs.. all that is left is the Short Style, which will only level your truck to the TT for atleast 6 months or mine lasted that long.. I ended up trashing them. I'd go with the WAR-153's or CopperHead Fab shackles.

I see you know a little more about Mountaineers than me and I was wondering if you could help me figure out what all I needed to lift mine. It's a 97 to.

You can get a least a inch lift using monroe coil over shocks for the rear.
It raised my explorer almost 1.5 inches.
