i tried to post one but i can't, don't know how

Anyone can post pictures. You just need to upload them to an image hosting site like Photobucket and then link it (use the Insert image button looks like mountains in the editor). Elite members have the ability to use Explorer forum as their image hosting site so we can directly upload them here..

Just a guess, but didn't some explorers come with a load leveling rear suspension??? Could have something to do with the air bags...

now that you mentioned it, the guy i bought it from used it for work, to load very heavy stuff all day long everyday...

I have never seen that indicator in an explorer before.

What positions are there on your 4x4 switch?

Blinker fluid low! :D

I've not seen that one before, is yours an AWD? It could have something to do with the European version Ex, which is why nobody has seen it before...

I've never seen a light in that location, although it isn't clear in the picture.

I believe that any ride control issues would show up in the message center in the console, not on the dash,, but it's possible that a euro-spec model might have a different gauge cluster.

Sorry I can't be more help... Can you get a clearer picture?

the car was built in kentucky and brought here by an american that had to move to germany, then my friend bought it from him. so it should be the american version.

the positions on the 4X4 switch are:

2WD
4X4 AUTO
4X4 LOW

it's always on 2WD

All Explorers were built in Louisville, KY, but when it was shipped overseas, it probably had the instrument cluster swapped out with a metric one, didn't it?

In the US versions, there are only three lights on that side of the cluster: 4x4, 4x4LOW, and O/D OFF, but the one in the picture appears to be above and to the left of where the 4x4 light should be, and it's red (the 4x4 lights should be amber). That's why I'm so confused.... There shouldn't be a light there in the US vehicles.

It has a different cluster in it, because the speedometer looks to be a 200 km/h cluster by the numbers shown in the second picture, so I'm sure it's a special non-US cluster...

yes, it's in kilometers not miles. i'll try to take a cleared picture tomorrow.
