Hey fellas, so, I am building my rig for a combination of camping and wheeling. I want to have a lighting system to allow me to set up camp in the dark... so, I am pretty much aiming for 360 degree lighting. On the rack, 2 rear, 2 out each side, four front. Probably big back up lights on the rear bumper and a couple of big round ones on the front bumper. I am wondering if there are any LED floodlights to save on power requirements?

At this point, I am planning on using 6" rectangle floods for the side and back lights and have not decided on the front lights. Looking for any and all suggestions for lighting, battery(s), alternators etc.

I am planning on building a roof rack very similar to this: (photos borrowed from solomotorsports.com without permission...)

as far as i have seen on ebay which isn't a great survey on what is available. i don't think there are LED lights. I think that there are lights with LED halos Axial32 has them. but that sounds like a really sick idea. that would off-roading so much easier if you could see everything. you will probably need a second battery, but if not that, you will definiatelly need to upgrade your alternator, because with 18 lights on the truck you will draw a looooot of amps.

i'm by no means a lighting guru but i Hope that answered at least one question.

Ya, I plan to step up to a much larger alternator and possibly go with a dual set up. I am looking at 14 lights total. Mostly 55W halogens. I don't think I would ever have a good reason to run them all at the same time though. I have purchased a wireless remote set up to control the ones that will be on the roof rack. That way, I can light up my camp site from my tent in the middle of the night when I have to take a leak:D

I will post pics as it comes along. I guess I could start a build thread... oh wait, maybe I can't do that here without becoming "elite"... oh well... Perhaps I should cross that bridge at some point. At this point any and all funds gotta go in to the rig...

You don't have to be "Elite" to start a thread, even a build thread, but being "Elite" makes it much easier to post pics to go along with the write-up.

Oh, cool. I thought I read that somewhere...guess not. Well then, I may have to get something going to get my ride critiqued!:)
