Clearly a lot to address here. Wow.
So, let me ask a question I'm almost hesitant to do.
That tune has been on my Sport since 30k-ish. It now has 72k-ish. I've had no issues with it; however, recently, something has started to happen. When I jump on it, and the RPM's sweep above, say, 4,500rpm, on a full throttle run to redline? It doesn't happen on a gradual sweep to 4,500 rpms. We're talking - on it, full throttle. I see grayish/brown/black smoke coming out the rear end. A pretty hefty cloud, frankly. It's NOT white, or blue. Seems like excess fuel, but not sure. I notice no other drivability issues.
Facts: Since the tune went on, the plugs have been changed twice. No appreciable issues - MAYBE some slight oil on a few but, that's really searching for something. Overall, I'd call it normal/fine. PTU fluid changed twice and the tranny fluid once. Coolant changed once and the brake fluid once now, too. AirRad intake and it's clean. I use 93 octane, top tier fuel, and have since day 1. Overall, it's been well taken care of. I do have the three bar MAP sensor in there, FYI.
I generally run their mid tier tune around town and they programmed in a softer shift feature as the first one was too harsh for my liking. Still more firm than stock.
It was suggested that it may be carbon build up that's starting. That's what I'm seeing coming out the tailpipes when I hit it - that's the suggestion that was made to me.
I don't run this vehicle hard. Once in a while I get on it when pulling out, or to pass; however, 90% of the time I'm not even sure why I have a tune. HAHA.
Any thoughts on what might be going on? Hopefully nothing major. What would you suggest doing to fix carbon build up? I saw some YT videos on the top from that MACOLOKO (sp.?) guy in Chicago.
Thanks!
