Livernois Motorsports 2013 Explorer Sport

Chris,
any timeframe for the xv1 tune? What will be different between it and the current high boost tune?

It will most likely be a few weeks out. The xv1 will be a more race oriented tune, maximum power that we deem safe. Where as the High Boost tune is still a nice driving daily tune.

I'm liking the higher boost tune so far. I still haven't re-gapped the plugs yet, but will in the next day or so. The only thing I don't like, but nothing these tunes can fix.....is the crazy torque steer.

It'd get better if there was a way to make them act more RWD than FWD!

Its literally impossible...And even if you could the drive parts in the rear wouldnt take the beatin....

lol ah wishful thinking I guess. Doesn't sand mode somewhat do that?

Are you saying the rear drivetrain parts aren't as sturdy at the front, or would you expect to start seeing some front end drivetrain failures as these things start to really lay down big power for a big ol' SUV?

YES the front axles are much beefier....the rear halfshafts are skinny and not designed to drive most or all the vehicles weight...not to mention the rear ring gear is driven by a electromagnetic clutch that has to hold....none of these parts are designed to drive all the vehicles weight.

sand mode puts full duty cycle to the rear RDU....but you still cant decrease the work done by the transaxle in front....its all mechanical...youll never get more than 50/50 split....

What is the "TS" for at end of new 93 tune?

It said on tuner "93 Per v2 TS".

Good to know. Gotta love tech info!

Thermostat. I'm guessing you have a 170* one. My revised tune for my thermostat had TS appended to the end.

We put TS at the end of the tune files that are for aftermarket thermostats and also DP for down pipes.

Thanks, I have a thermostat coming for my F150 from you. I'm going to order one for Explorer too now. Thanks for quick response on getting me the Explorer tune and I sent you my strategy for F150 last night.

I'll have my sport soon and will tune it just as soon! I noticed people re-gapping the plugs. I was at the dealership looking at the only sport they had in stock. I didn't even see 1 spark plug let alone 6:) I was wondering where they are, are they easy to get at, any torque setting on re-install of the plugs?
Another thing I saw on this forum was the issue of the hose for the turbos detaching due to the clamps being undersized or not clamped on at all. Where am I looking to check this?
Thanks.

No problem. You are welcome and thank you for your business. I will take a look at the email and send you the update for the F150 as soon as possible.

My Livernois tuner, Airaid cai, and 170 thermostat is set be here on Friday for my 2014
Sport.

I was wondering if the xv1 tune is available yet? If so, will I need to gap my plugs for the vx1 tune, or any of the other tunes for that matter?

I can't wait to bring my Sport to life! I have waited long enough (3000 miles) ;)

Thanks guys!

The Xv1 tune is in the final stages currently. We are with weeks if not days from it's release for the Explorer and Taurus. One modification that will be a prerequisite for the new Explorer and Taurus tune will be a 3 bar MAP sensor and also a 170 thermostat. We recommend to gap your plugs to .030" for the performance tunes as well. -Anthony

Can you supply us with the MAP? I have everything else so far save for the downpipes.

Also, are you guys going to be gearing up for the meth soon?

We do sell the MAP currently for $150 and typically keep in stock. We are also developing a methanol kit and tune to go with it. -Anthony

What's the deal with a 3bar MAP sensor? The factory one can read up to 29psi. Are y'all seeing boost spikes greater than that?

MAP is absolute, and at STP the atmospheric pressure is ~+14.7 psi. This makes the stock 2 bar one measure +/- ~14.7 psi from ambient air pressure. This makes it run out of MAP past ~14.7 psi boost (at STP, less if lower than 0'DA, etc).
