Livernois Motorsports 2013 Explorer Sport

MAP is absolute, and at STP the atmospheric pressure is ~+14.7 psi. This makes the stock 2 bar one measure +/- ~14.7 psi from ambient air pressure. This makes it run out of MAP past ~14.7 psi boost (at STP, less if lower than 0'DA, etc).

Interesting.. I didn't realize the Baro was taken from the MAP sensor. I wonder how they are getting them to read boost past 15psi then. They have a couple guys running 21psi with stock MAP sensors. This would put them 5-6 psi over the readable range of the stock sensor.

Yep, that's where the Absolute comes from in Manifold Absolute Pressure. I have no idea how they are keeping the computer from getting pissed from overboosting.

The Xv1 tune is in the final stages currently. We are with weeks if not days from it's release for the Explorer and Taurus. One modification that will be a prerequisite for the new Explorer and Taurus tune will be a 3 bar MAP sensor and also a 170 thermostat. We recommend to gap your plugs to .030" for the performance tunes as well. -Anthony

Thanks Anthony. My tuner, thermostat, and cai are here and I just emailed you my strategy codes / SW part ID . :)

On a different note, has anyone posted pictures of changing or gapping their plugs? I have not found anything on the forums yet. Does anyone want to share the process? :D

This senser takes the place of the factory one??? Plug n play??

Yes it is. You will simply remove the old one and replace it with the new 3 bar. -Anthony

You are welcome. I have just read your email and will reply as soon as they are completed.

The spark plug removal and install is fairly straight forward. We strongly recommend to use a professional gap device or feeler gauge. The typical auto store tool at the counter can be extremely inaccurate. Also be sure to not pry back and fourth on the electrode because many people damage plugs while attempting to adjust gap. -Anthony

Thanks Anthony.

I installed the cai and thermostat this morning. I flashed my Sport shortly after I got the tunes from Livernois this afternoon. Thanks a bunch for getting this out so quickly!

All I can say people is Wow! What huge difference in performance. I'll admit that I was a bit skeptical of what I would get out of just a tune, cai, and thermostat, but Livernois has made a believer out of me.

I can't wait for the exhaust! :D

Thanks again!

Perhaps I missed this, but which CAI did you order? I just went on the Livernois website and did not see a specific CAI for the Exp S.
Thanks

I ordered the AirAid intake, 170 degree thermostat, and the MYCaL tuner. I highly recommend the bundle.

I seriously can't get over what a difference there is in the performance. My father in law drove my Sport this afternoon with no knowledge of my mods and all he said was, "What the h*ll did you do this thing?" All with a big sh*t grin on his face. :D

I don't know if this is related to what you were talking about; I'm not all caught up on turbos; but came across this from Ford in Motor Trend (as well as looking at BorgWarner website). Maybe it matters, maybe it doesn't, just thought I'd share what I came across. It seems the computer can handle it?

The Explorer Sports use the same BorgWarner turbos as the F-150 and STI, they can top out at around 21 psi in overboost mode; the engine output is certified 19.5 psi but the turbo can boost up to 21, depeding on fuel quality, overboost demand, and atmospheric conditions.

There's another post on the board somewhere from a Ford-Dealer mechanic saying the drivetrain on the Explorer is no joke and capable of handling a lot.

The F-150 has BorgWarner K03's, the SHO, Explorer Sport, and Flex have Garret GT15's

I can't say for sure, but from what i've found it appears to be the gt1548, 48mm compressor. Hopefully someone more in the know (4DRHTRD) will chime in!

Anthony.....what is the latest on the XV1 tune? Also, does Livernois sell the 3-bar MAP sensor?

Any time frame on the down pipes and Corsa system?

Any time frame on the down pipes and Corsa system?

We are still awaiting the sample from our manufacturer to test fit and then they will go in to production. Possibly another 4-6 weeks before they are released.

Hey guys we have a 13 Sport the wife drives, i put your 93 PER tune in from day one (spring) love it. Wife does not care lol. I have one problem when i drive it every now and then. I did a WOT take off in sand/mud mode and i belive, 2nd to 3rd gear it went in too like neutral and banging off the rev limit hard for a few sec?? So i called you guys sat and put the new High Boost tune in took out and did the same thing?? Should i not use sand mode? What do you think is going on?? Truck is bone stock, I will pull plugs and gap down. But sure does not feel like it is blowing spark out at all.... only does it at that shift point...

Thank you Matt B 815 289 2555 P.S.Like sand mode with tration off but in a race if truck did this i would get killed and look real dumb lol
