No, its not a sub box. I've started work on a tool box to house tools(duh, of course) and when/if I ever go through with my onboard computer. It's going to take up a good half of the rear, but hey, thats what its there for. The dimensions are 15X36X12(LxWxH).

I was wondering what you guys would suggest to seal the wood. I want to be able to paint it and not be able to see the grain once its completed. I figured on using sanding sealer but maybe there is a better product? Thanks!

Any wood paint (except clear) would cover the grain. I would suggest green to match the color of your truck. Installing some kind of foam on the inside would be a good ideal also to keep the noise down from your tools jumping around everytime you hit a bump.

You might want to try "Kilz", it's a primer/sealer that covers very well. Will also keep out the fresh cut plywood smell. You may have heard of it. If not, you can find it at your local home center in a spray or brush-on. I would suggest a spray for a smoother finish without sanding.

Use a can of truck bed liner spray paint.

I plan on buying the color changing paint kit from Wally World so that kilz looks like good stuff.

Good idea X! never thought of that. I'll do that when I get my insulation for the entire truck.

All my loud spekers are painted in truck bed liner.
