Hey there, I have a 14 Explorer Interceptor. It has the stock 245 55 R18 Goodyear Eagle RSA tires on it. They have a significant wear on them lately. And I am planning to upgrade. I am looking for best set of tires and any alternatives to consider for the interceptor stock rims that are standard with the FPIU. The stock goodyear RSA's for the size will be costing anywhere from 225-250$ per tire. I am ready to spend almost equivalent amount, but just want to look at the alternatives too. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you.

Since you won't be participating in any pursuits, I think any tires made for the retail Explorer would be just fine.

FYI, don't limit your search to the stock interceptor 245/55R18 tire size. Those dimensions are really niche, and you won't have many tire options if you stick with them. The FPIU can accommodate 245/60R18 easily, which is far more common. You'll need to do a simple adjustment with FORScan to update the size in the car's computers if you go that route.

I have Continental Terraincontact H/T on our 2018 Palatium. Had them for over a couple of years and they handle and wear great. I have had No issues with them.

Thanks! I will definitely give that a look. I'm not sure whether the stock police rims could accommodate anything that is not the OEM size that came with the Interceptor package (245/55/18).

Thanks peter. I shall be going through those. It's just that, I am not sure about any other tire sizes can go on the stock steelies (Model No: DG1Z-1015-A) that came with the car.

I own nine of the stock steelie wheels.
Four have Bridgestone Blizzak 245/60R18 which I run in winter.
Four have the stock Goodyear Eagle RS-A Police 245/55R18 which I currently run the rest of the year. Will probably get something else eventually, probably 245/60R18 for convenience and matching.
One has no rubber on it - will eventually get a tire on it to serve as my year round spare.
Tire dimensions are width/depth/rim diameter. As long as you keep the width and rim diameter the same, tires will fit on the wheels exactly the same. You can technically vary the width a bit, but there are some issues to consider and I'm not enough of a tire expert to get into that.
Bigger depth means an overall larger diameter and higher profile tire. You need to make sure that there's space in the wheel wells, which is not an issue at all with the small bump from 55 to 60.
