Anyone here know anything about classic fords????
I've had this old water trailer for over 6 years now and remembered the guy that sold it to me mentioned he should've removed the axle before selling it to me so I decided to look into what axle is in this trailer and it turns out it's an old Ford 9" from what I could find online.... It's maybe from the 60's??? The trailer itself looks like it could've been an old 1/2 ton truck so maybe this axle was from an old 60's truck?
I just thought I'd come on here and see what I could find out about it...

Here's some pictures of the axle....
There's no ID tag either...

Well, you're missing the pinion gear and cover. You can pull off the drum and then the axle shaft from one side to see if you have a big bearing or little bearing axle. I'm sure the carrier is still in there, but if you're going to use it, you'll have to buy a new gear set and cover.

I have the pinion gear, cover and yoke I just didn't include a picture of it...The axle is "complete" from drum to drum, minus the brake hardware and cable. The trailer attached I assume is the original frame of whatever vehicle it was so I also have the leafs and everything! Looks like an old truck, maybe 1/2 ton...
I'm trying to find out the exact specs on this axle to sell it...
I have an Explorer that needs transmission work, most likely a rebuild but I can't afford much at the moment and selling this axle will help me get a rebuild kit!
I think the axle is a pre 67' and I also think its a 28 spline but not positive!
I'll be pulling the axle soon to take it apart, inspect ot and clean it...

Well, I ended up taking the axle apart and getting all the numbers off the parts!
The number on the ring gear is:
USA D2TW-4210 A 1035
So it's a 9" ring & 3.50 pinion gear with 28 spline shafts!
The bearings inside the diff assembly look and feel great surprisingly!!! Unfortunately the bearing in the pinion support flange is seized and won't spin but the shaft is probably fine. I remember when it happened and I just took the pinion out and put it in storage....
The ring gear has lots of rust and a little pitting but honestly looks like it can still be used still after some elbow grease! The teeth don't look damaged other than the rust...

I'm just trying to get an idea of how much it's worth...
I'm seeing them go for an average of $300 so that's what I'm asking for it...
I'm also trying to sell the leafs and frame as one but we'll see....

Here's some pictures......
